OMB! What is going on with Danielle Staub's brows?

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub constantly covers tabloid magazines with dramatic reveals about her past.  While she does have a somewhat shocking back-story, her brows make her appear to be permanently surprised -- a look that doesn't flatter anyone.  Here are a few tips to avoid/correct this unintentional expression and to better compliment perfectly almond eyes like Danielle's:

1.  Make sure that your brow doesn't end at a higher point on your face than it starts.  Over time, if your skin shifts in this direction, use a little Brow Powder or Brow Pencil to bring the "tail" of your brow back down.

2.  Keep the highest point of your arch directly above the outside of your iris (the colored portion of your eye).  Do not put the arch over another part of your eye or expand it wider than just above this location.

3.  Talk to your doctor or medical esthetician before doing any treatments about how the treatment will affect your brows.

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen's Tell-All Brows

Who needs a tabloid expose, when American Idol runner-up and winner, Adam Lambert (left) and Kris Allen (right), are fully disclosing everything we need to know about their personalities with their brows?  While the ladies here at BDB don't normally recommend everyday gents doing anything more than clean-up, the shape Adam has chosen definitely adds to the hair metal rocker looks he leans toward, and proves the post from several months ago about using brows to enhance a character or role.  Kris Allen maintains a more natural, but well groomed pair of brows lending to a more accoustic-loving boy-next-door image.  Congrats to both up-and-coming musicians on expressing themselves with their brows and generating the most votes in the show's history!

Hot or Not: Do Olivia Wilde's Brows Befit her Body?

Maxim's got House MD's Olivia Wilde in the number one slot for their annual Top 100, but here at BDB, we're having a hard time giving her brows a perfect 10.  With her incredible bone structure and bright eyes, we recommend pumping up the depth and volume.

Volume doesn't just apply to music, math, and the hair on your head.  Voluptuous brows draw attention to one of the most expressive features on the face, the eyes.  Use an Angled Brush, fill in the area behind your brows with brow powder and extend you brows.  For Olivia, we recommend balancing the brow by making the section between the start and arch of her brow more full than the section between the arch and end (commonly referred to as the "tail").

Lohan's Lustrous Brows

While Lindsay Lohan's weight might be withering, she has been taking care of her hair, brows included.  So I just wanted to take a moment to tout the importance of treating your brows like the valuable hair that they are.  Stress, diet, environment, and skin care products are all factors that can damage your brows' health.  One of our mottos here at BDB is, "you condition the hair on your head, why wouldn't you condition your brows?"  So the next time you are letting a deep conditioning treatment sit on your hair while you shave your legs, remember to show your brows a little vitamin and protien love, too.  Check out Brow Boost.

I love you man, but what happened to your eyebrows?

 

I Love You Man's Jason Segel may be loved by his new best friend, Paul Rudd, but there's no way anyone is loving those eyebrows.  He may be Pau'ls pick for the best man in his wedding, but he's taken the vows "two should become one" way too seriously.  To all of you gentlemen out there, the first rule of brows for anyone, male or female is: There should be TWO!  However, he's managed to tweeze the strays off of his eyelids, which is where his BFF has gone astray.

I Love You Man's Paul Rudd has prominent brow separation, but his eye lids are a bit over-grown.  While guys should never arch their brows, there's no reason for the outer half of a man's brows to be twice as thick as the inner half.  Balance is the word of the day for Paul.

Now here are some brows we can applaud!  I Love You Man's Rashida Jones has wonderfully full, natural brows with a soft arch.  They are proportionate to her facial features and complimentary in color to her hair color and skin tone.  Thanks to Rashida, BDB has restored confidence that the I Love You Man cast pays the attention to our favorite cornerstone of aesthetic appeal -- brows.

The Olsen Twins - Condemned for Fur, Praised for Furrows

PETA may have the Olsen twins on their Worst Dressed Celebs of 2009 list, but fur aside, everyone at BDB is loving their brows.  They are a great lesson in the often forgotten art of brow trimming. 

Tweezing and waxing are always associated with brow shaping, but one of the keys to a professionally polished brow is proper trimming.  Untrimmed or overly trimmed brows can be disastrous, but brows that are brushed upward and slightly trimmed one hair at a time can upgrade your entire look.  In this photo you can also see two different options, Mary-Kate's precisely trimmed brows on the left and Ashley's more natural, but still tamed look on the right.

BEWARE:  Trimming is hugely important but also one of the trickiest elements of brow shaping.  It's best left to the professional.  If you have to do it yourself, remember, one hair at a time, trim at an angle (you don't want your brows to have the "my mom just cut my bangs" effect by cutting them straight across), and less is more!

Amanda Bynes Says, "Hello," to Great Brows

New Year's Brow-solution

E! On-line created a fantastically funny photo album of various tabloid celebrities and made suggestions for their New Year's resolutions.  BDB would like to add "The Girls Next Door" star Kendra Wilkinson to the list.  With all of the press about her break-up with Hef and engagement to NFL's Hank Baskett, we've seen a lot of Kendra's little brows.  So our suggestion for her New Year's Brow-solution is... to let her eyebrows grow in, so she can flatter her face by shaping them into a more full, natural arch instead of a pair of parentheses ( ).
